Description: Enterovirus EV-D68, belongs to the Picornaviridae family and is classified as a member of the Enterovirus D species. In recent years, EV-D68 has emerged and spread worldwide. The virus is primarily transmitted through respiratory routes and mainly infects infants and young children, causing respiratory infections. In severe cases, it can lead to difficulty breathing and even acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) similar to that caused by poliovirus. Since there are currently no effective therapeutic drugs or preventive vaccines available, early diagnosis is particularly important. Monoclonal antibodies specific for EV-D68 can be used for the diagnosis of infections caused by this virus and for analyzing antigen variations. Neutralizing monoclonal antibodies can also serve as preventive or therapeutic medicine.
