Description: Canine Parainfluenza Virus (CPIV) infection is a major respiratory infectious disease in dogs. The clinical manifestations include fever, rhinitis, and cough. Pathological changes are characterized by catarrhal rhinitis and bronchitis. CPIV can also cause acute myelitis and hydrocephalus, which are characterized by hindlimb paralysis and motor dysfunction. The nucleoprotein NP of CPIV is the main structural protein, and its antigenicity differs significantly from other paramyxoviruses. Monoclonal antibodies against NP can be used as a tool for differential diagnosis.
