Description: Influenza C virus usually infects only human and pigs. Although influenza C is less prevalent in the population than influenza A and B, it can also cause seasonal epidemics in some places. Influenza C virus has 7 gene segments, and its surface glycoprotein is encoded by the HEF gene; NP protein is a structural protein with high content in influenza C virus particles, and monoclonal antibodies against NP can be used for diagnosis.
