Description: M-type immunoglobulin (IgM) is a type of animal globulin. Unlike other types of immunoglobulins such as IgG and IgA, IgM is the largest molecular weight and the first type of immunoglobulin molecules produced by the body after encountering the immune antigen/antigen for the first time. The spleen and plasma cells in the human body and most mammals are the main places to produce specific IgM. Mature gM is a pentamer with a heavy chain u chain of about 580aa. IgM is the earliest immunoglobulin molecule produced during embryonic development and also the earliest produced during microbial infection. Therefore, specific monoclonal antibodies against IgM can be used as a useful tool for specific diagnosis of infectious diseases.
