Description:
CCL2 is the most well-known CC chemokine. CCL2 has chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils. It is one of the key chemokines that regulate monocyte / macrophage migration and infiltration. CCL2 plays a role in tumor development. In many types of cancer, CCL2 signaling has a pro-tumor effect. Elevated levels of CCL2 are often associated with disease progression in patients with breast cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma, gastric cancer, and ovarian cancer. Overexpression of CCL2 or the presence of genetic variants is associated with increased recruitment of macrophages and poor patient outcomes.
