Feline NT-proBNP is a cleavage product of pro-BNP released during myocardial stretch. It is a sensitive marker for feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM affects 15% of cats, leading to heart failure or thromboembolism. Anti-NT-proBNP mAbs are used in ELISA for early HCM detection.
