Description: Human Adenovirus serotype 7 (hADV7), is a member of the family Adenoviridae and is a large, non-enveloped virus with a diameter of approximately 90-100 nanometers. It has an icosahedral shape and contains a double-stranded DNA genome that ranges from 30 to 40 kilobase pairs in size. Ad7 has also been studied for its potential as a vaccine vector. By introducing a harmless version of a virus or other pathogen into the body, Ad7 can trigger an immune response that provides protection against the actual disease-causing agent. Several Ad7-based vaccine candidates have been tested in preclinical and clinical trials for diseases such as COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). During HAdV infection, neutralizing antibodies are formed against the epitopes located in the hyper variable regions (HVRs) of the hexon protein. These neutralizing antibodies provide protection against reinfection by viruses of the same type.
