Description: Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the primary causative agent of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in pigs. The primary causative agent of PMWS has been identified as porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2). The PCV2 virion measures approximately 17 nm in diameter, is non-enveloped and consists of a circular single-stranded DNA surrounded by an icosahedral capsid.
