EGFL7 protein is an endothelial cell-specific secretory factor, which is necessary for lumen formation of blood vessels. Its deficiency will lead to the obstruction of lumen formation, thus affecting the perfection of vascular function. It has strong expression in early embryonic blood vessels, while in adults it is only highly expressed in a few organs (such as heart, lung and kidney) and tumors, inflammatory tissues.
