Description:
Since its discovery, CD20 has been considered to be expressed on the surface of B lymphocytes and involved in the treatment of numerous tumor cells. The latest research shows that it is also expressed on a small number of T cells. CD20 belongs to the transmembrane 4 domain family A (MS4A) protein family, a non glycosylated protein with a molecular weight of 33-37KDa. The CD20 protein consists of four hydrophobic transmembrane domains, one intracellular structure, and two extracellular domains. The N-terminus and C-terminus are both located in the cytoplasmic sol, and no natural ligands have been found yet.CD20 is highly expressed on the surface of B cells, but does not exist in early Pro-B cells or plasma cells. It plays a role in their differentiation into plasma cells and activation of antigen-independent T cell responses. In addition, CD20 is also expressed in B-cell lymphoma and leukemia, as well as some myeloma, thymoma, and Hodgkin's disease. Various pieces of evidence indicate that CD20 has a positive impact on disease treatment. CD20 therapy has been widely used to treat diseases with high expression of CD20 antigen, and different CD20 monoclonal antibodies bind to unique epitopes on the surface of CD20, showing good effects on different cancers and diseases.
