Description:
Angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) is a member of the angiopoietin-like protein family that regulates lipid metabolism, and its family also includes ANGPTL4 and ANGPTL8. The protein encoded by ANGPTL3 gene is produced only in liver and secreted into the circulation system. In liver, ANGPTL3 is completely produced by hepatocytes, and its expression is regulated by liver X receptor (LXR) activated by hydroxysterols.
