Description: Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) is the receptor for IL33, which is expressed on hematopoietic and epithelial cells and mediates immune responses by type I helper T cells. ST2 not only localizes to the cell surface as ST2L but can also be released in a free form into the peripheral blood as a decoy receptor. The balance between IL-33/ST2 is crucial for Th2-type diseases and has regulatory effects on some inflammatory reactions. In recent years, soluble ST2 in the free form in the peripheral blood has been considered an important target for early diagnosis and treatment prognosis of cancer, pneumonia, cardiovascular and other related diseases.
